Leaving Campdevànol and passing the village of Gombrèn you will find the detour that goes up to the Sanctuary of Montgrony, a place worth visiting, for its spectacular scenery.
In this place was the Castle of Montgrony, of great importance for the region and with numerous references to Count Arnau, but no longer retains any remains. Today you can visit the Interpretation Center, the chapel of Santa Maria and the church of San Pedro. The place is spectacular for the natural balconies you will find, with panoramic views ranging from Pedraforca to Montseny.
Once you have visited Montgrony, follow the route and take the road that leads to Castellar de n'Hug. Coming down from Montgrony, we will find the road well indicated. It is a road with little traffic and a unique beauty. From Montgrony to Castellar de n'Hug there are about 13km that take about 15 minutes.
On our way back, we follow the road heading north, towards La Molina. After a few kilometers you will reach the Coll de la Creueta, where you will find enough space to park your car.
The Coll de la Creueta (1,880 m.), separates Berguedà from Cerdanya and Ripollès, and from there we will find views of the whole of Central Catalonia, and in a northerly direction, the axial Pyrenees opens up in a spectacular way. It is an ideal place to go with children, to discover very closely, the grazing areas and dry stone constructions of the shepherds of Castellar de n'Hug. We recommend a short walk, or climb up the hill, easily and quickly accessible, where we will again enjoy spectacular views of central Catalonia, on one side, and the eastern Pyrenees and France on the other.
After visiting the Coll de la Creueta, we follow the road towards La Molina, we arrive at Plà d'Anyella (Toses-Ripollès) which is the meeting point of the flocks of sheep from the lowlands of Ripollès, Lluçanès, Osona and Berguedà for hundreds of years. These flocks graze during the summer months on these mountains and ridges of rounded shapes and greenish esplanades. Observe the dry stone constructions such as huts, screens, padrones ..., as well as flocks of sheep, cows and horses, and also marmots, chamois and vultures.
At the end you reach the Alabaus area of the station of La Molina, there is a bar/restaurant that is open all year round, although outside the winter season, they close on Wednesdays. We can make a last stop here.
To return to Campdevànol we can take either the Collada or the inland road to Toses.
We hope you enjoy the tour and spend a beautiful day!
